The WorldNav 5300 GPS ensures that commercial size vehicles have the best route to take based upon the area and vehicle specifications. This GPS unit offers users a 5-inch HD touchscreen with 480×800 resolution which is much better than comparable 5-inch displays. The touchscreen allows users to change their route, reset directions and change vehicle specifications while in motion. Clear graphic displays shows roadways as you see them while driving with the correct number of lanes and a clear mapping of on and off ramps. In combination with the high-definition graphics, a clear voice is used by the system to notify drivers of upcoming turns, exits and other important information regarding their travels. This GPS unit comes with 8GB flash memory and supports SD memory cards up to 32GB. This helps users save frequently used routes and special routes for future use. These routes can be named for identification purposes as well.

Smart Route Technology

Given the fact that trucks require specific road conditions and clearance, the smart route technology within this device is a valuable feature. Users input their vehicle specifications which include height, width and load weight, as well as hazmat category if applicable, in order to find the best route for the trip. The technology within the device will only select a route that meets the vehicle specifications and needs for proper clearance and driving conditions. This ensures that the trip will be as safe as possible without becoming stuck under a low underpass or narrowing roads. Users can easily change vehicle specifications depending on their load, trailer or main driving vehicle.

Use in RVs

Even if you are not a commercial driver, you can still use this GPS device. The WorldNav 5300 is also designed for use in an RV. Owners can enter the dimensions of the RV along with the start and end point of the trip. Users can select to map out a trip with specific stops, going off of the path for specific attractions or even finding the best place to stop and sleep. This makes traveling with the family easier as the unit instructs the driver where to turn and provides indicators on the screen of upcoming stops or route changes. The battery power option is ideal for uploading maps and saving special directions. The high-tech nature of the device helps the unit cold boot in just 18 seconds. When you need to get going in a hurry to stay on schedule, this fast booting feature is helpful and gets you on the road faster.

This GPS system is worth every penny. I got mine as a Christmas gift two years past and it is still working great today. It comes with all the truck specific features you would expect form this type of commercial nav unit. The only reason I will get rid of mine is to sell it and buy the newer model which looks to have more memory and twice as much processing power. My favorite feature from this family of GPS units is how they outline restricted roads in red and allow you to click on it to see why it is restricted. This is nice when double checking your route to make sure the roads are actually restricted for your vehicle. A common complaint against all trucker GPS units is how they mislabel restricted roads even when the truck profile is setup correctly. This software makes it easy to find out these things ahead of time and can save you a lot of unnecessary miles.
